Engineering

Drawings, calculations, design, field staking for trail along side highway:
$8,000 per mile in 1999

Bridges

200 ft. length by 10 ft. width; wood decking, iron supports:
$287,000 in 1993

Initial Surfacing

Asphalt paving on existing railroad bed, little grading needed:
$71,000 per mile in 2002 (The town of Boulder Junction developed their trail for
an average of $35,000 - $40,000 per mile.)

10 ft. wide asphalt trail, grading, erosion control, culverts:
$70,000 to $100,000 per mile in 2002

Crushed limestone:
$20,000 to $50,000 per mile

Re-surfacing

Freshening and repairing crushed limestone trail:
$400 per mile per year

Slurry seal of 10 ft. wide asphalt trail:
$2,600 per mile every 7-10 years

Maintenance

Pruning, weeding, mowing, sweeping, repairs of signs, kiosks, etc.:
$2,000 per mile per year (approximately)

Trailhead

Paved parking for 20 cars; toilet, landscaping, lighting:
$50,000 in 1993
